Tips for Cleaning Your Business Signage

Tips for Cleaning Your Business Signage

Clean and well-kept business signage makes the greatest impact!

If your business signage and building signs are going to make the polished impression you want, they need to be properly maintained. While finely crafted and constructed signs are sure to last your business for a while, it helps to do the occasional sprucing up. These steps are super simple but can make a huge impact on the overall appearance of your business space. Here are some steps to take to clean your exterior and interior business signage.

Exterior Signs

Exterior signs are constructed to withstand year-round outdoor conditions. While the business signage shouldn’t show any wearing down on its structure or designs, it could be cleaned of plenty of outdoor grime and contaminants. Signs lower to the ground, like architectural signs, can accumulate dirt, dust, road salt residue, and bird droppings. If hosing down these signs doesn’t quite do the trick, you can take a damp cloth and diluted dishwashing liquid in water to wipe down the sign. Dry the sign with another clean, soft cloth. This cleaning method should be suitable for most sign materials. However, make sure your metal signs are rust-resistant.

Higher up building signs may require you to call a professional to clean for your safety. Using your best judgment, however, you can climb a ladder and clean the sign yourself with the above method. Additionally, you may want to clear away any lodged debris or bird’s nests.

Interior Signs

Interior sign cleaning should be a regular part of your workspace cleaning. Interior business signage can include wall-mounted dimensional letters or window graphics. Dimensional letters can be gently dusted with a microfiber cloth or duster to get into all the grooves of the designs. Window graphics or etchings can be maintained regularly by wiping the glass door or windows with a streak-free cleaning solution. Furthermore, take the time to periodically check that the sign information is up-to-date and reflects your business. For example, you may need to redo your wayfinding signs if some departments or offices have moved around.
